Ever since the launch of the iPhone 4, Apple fans have speculated what the next version of the handset will have. Even rumours of multiple delay and processor problems haven’t dented the enthusiasm of technology addicts. Every day, more rumours emerge surrounding what features the iPhone 5 will have. If these rumours are true, here are some ways that the iPhone 5 could improve upon the iPhone 4.
• Hardware
Some of the most plausible rumours to emerge surrounding the iPhone 5 state that it will be the first Apple handset to feature a dual core processor. The iPhone 4 is currently one of the most powerful handsets, featuring a 1GHz A8 processor, but the iPhone 5 could have processing power more akin to the iPad 2. There are also rumours that the iPhone 5 could have a model with 64GB of internal storage, improving upon the iPhone 4’s 16GB and 32GB models.
• Camera
The iPhone 4 has one of the most widely admired smartphone cameras, capable of shooting 5-megapixel images with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels as well as 720p video. Rumours surrounding the iPhone 5’s camera have been scant, but some have stated that it may have an 8-megapixel sensor, bringing it more in line with the current crop of smartphones being released.
• Operating System
The iPhone 5 will come shipped with that latest version of Apple’s operating system, iOS5. The new operating system promises a richer iPhone experience, incorporating Twitter integration, a new notifications bar, the BBM-style iMessage, magazine subscription management and an improved version of the Safari web browser. The updated operating system will also be available on the iPhone 4, but the much improved processing power of the iPhone 5 will likely make using it a much cleaner, smoother experience.
